The ResqRanch is the premiere Positive Reinforcement (R+) animal sanctuary, training and education center. Our mission is, through Positive Reinforcement education, is to end the need for animal shelters, rescue’s, and Mustang holding pens, in the first place! We strive to improve the lives of all animals, primarily horses, and their people, through our programs, classes, and workshops.
In these ways we fulfill people, animals, and our mission while educating future generations to responsibly care for the beautiful and fascinating creatures that we are lucky enough to have in our lives.
The mission of the ResqRanch started as a way to educate people about the need for homing ex-racing horses but has developed into so much more. The ResqRanch has been rescuing, retraining, and rehoming cast-off horses from the racing industry, as well as other animals, for over 20 years. At the head of our efforts is our veterinarian and first and only Life Coach for People with Pets, Jena Questen, DVM, CertAqV, Professional Animal Trainer, or as we like to call her, DrQ!
After years of boarding our rescue animals in public facilities in October of 2022 we moved into a facility of our very own! This new facility has opened up endless possibilities to further our mission. Although the facility is a fixer upper and needs a lot of TLC we have been working day and night to get it into tip top shape. We started with ground and tractor work to ensure safe footing for animals and people. We installed a new fence and have done tremndous amounts of work on the barn.
In 2023 we will continue working on the facility and open our doors to the community. Our Vision is to help animals and the people that love them live happier, healthier and longer lives together through our educational programs. Not only will we be able to provide the community with more education about positive reinforcement training, but we will also be able to provide a safe haven for both animals and people. Emotional health is just as important to us as phyciacl health. One of our goals is to create a safe environment for people that are struggling. Bonding with an animal and providing them with care is extremely therapeutic, and we want to become a place where you can feel safe, welcome, and empowered!!
